Southampton Players Donate Salaries After Historic 0-9 Premier League Defeat

The Moroccan international, Sofiane Boufal, and his Southampton teammates, after their humiliating defeat (0-9) at home on Friday, October 25, have decided to donate their salary to the club’s charitable foundation, as a gesture of reconciliation with their audience.

Will the symbolic gesture of Southampton be able to appease its supporters? They witnessed the biggest home defeat (0-9) suffered by their team in the Premier League in 133 years, against Leicester. This decision to offer their salary has been extended to the coaching staff.

In a press release published on its website, the club tried to justify this decision by indicating that the first idea the group thought of was this act of generosity towards the Saints Foundation.

This Foundation, according to the club, works each year with 12,000 young people and adults of all ages, using the power and passion of sport to transform lives.

The other decision taken by the club to redeem itself is to correct itself in the next double confrontation against Manchester City, in the League Cup on Tuesday, then in the Premier League on Saturday.
