Six Arrested in Spain for Alleged Gang Rape of Teen in Bilbao Park

The Bilbao police in Spain announced the arrest of six men, "all of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities". They are accused of raping a young girl on Thursday, August 1, 2019, around 11 p.m.
The six suspects, aged 18 to 36, are involved in this rape, reports the Spanish daily, El Pais, which specifies that they would be from Morocco and Algeria.
The victim, an 18-year-old girl, walking alone in Etxebarria Park, was approached by these men. They took her to their makeshift dwelling and raped her. Succeeding in freeing herself, she immediately went to a hospital near the crime scene. She informed a member of the staff. As soon as they were informed, the police were able to find them thanks to the victim’s indications.
The suspects are currently being held in the Ertzaintza premises in Bilbao, which has initiated legal proceedings, pending their appearance before the court. The suspects remain in custody for the purposes of the investigation, subject to details on the circumstances of the crime, in order to determine the responsibilities of each of the defendants.
In a tweet on August 2, the mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, expressed his anger over the rape. For the mayor, there is no need to release these criminals.
In June, the daily, El Español, announced the arrest of three suspects, including two Moroccans, involved in the rape of a 17-year-old girl.
