Senegal - Morocco Final: Ismail Jakobs accuses Morocco of poisoning
The victory of Senegal over Morocco in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations is now tainted by serious accusations. A few days after the triumph of the Teranga Lions, defender Ismail Jakobs expressed grave suspicions about the health condition of three of his teammates, who suffered sudden illnesses before and during the match.
According to the Galatasaray player, Krépin Diatta, Ousseynou Niang and Pape Matar Sarr had "collapsed" in an unexplained manner. Jakobs rules out the theory of a simple food poisoning, describing scenes where the players were unable to hold their heads or speak. "I don’t want to accuse anyone, but it was definitely not a coincidence," he affirmed, specifying that the three internationals had to be hospitalized urgently.
This medical crisis was added to extreme tension on the field. The match was marked by a twenty-minute interruption after the Senegalese coach, Pape Thiaw, ordered his players to leave the pitch to protest against the refereeing. In this electric atmosphere, it was Sadio Mané’s intervention that finally allowed the game to resume, leading to Senegal’s triumph with a score of 1-0.
Despite these shocking testimonies, no official body has yet confirmed these allegations of poisoning. In the absence of definitive medical reports, the mystery still hovers over the backstage of this final, transforming the celebration of the title into a controversy that goes far beyond the sporting framework.
