U.S. Seeks Healthy Volunteers for Chinese Covid-19 Vaccine Trial, Offers Compensation

Between 1,000 and 2,000 candidates will volunteer, starting September 1, to experiment with the new Chinese anti-Covid-19 vaccine, during phase 3 of clinical trials. An allowance is granted to the "guinea pigs", who must meet specific criteria.
Thus, in accordance with the protocols in force during biomedical research, the volunteer patients, who must be between 18 and 40 years old, will undergo several biological analyzes, in order to rule out any chronic illness or risk factor.
To be eligible for clinical trials, only candidates in very good physical health will be chosen. Diabetics, hypertensive, cancer patients or people with diseases causing immune deficiency will not be admitted.
In order to ensure a strong participation of volunteer candidates, the Ministry of Health has thus called on all its components to get involved in this "humanitarian initiative", which has the theme "Together to win the battle against Covid-19".
To succeed in these tests, the ministry did not hesitate to dig into its pockets, by granting a daily allowance between 500 and 1,000 dirhams to each volunteer.
