Saudi Club Al Ittihad Edges Out Morocco’s Olympique de Safi in Mohammed VI Cup Quarterfinal

The Safi team was eliminated, on Saturday, by Al Ittihad (0-1) after a tough battle on the pitch of the Marche Verte stadium.
The Olympique de Safi left the Mohammed VI Cup of Arab Clubs through the main door, after having played an excellent first leg match (1-1) at the Al-Jawhara stadium in Jeddah, on January 15. They were defeated by this club from Saudi Arabia, after having played an excellent match in the context of the quarter-final return leg of this competition.
After dominating their opponents from start to finish, for the 90 minutes of play, the Moroccan players were unable to capitalize on the multiple opportunities of the match. Although dominated, the Al Ittihad players managed to open the scoring in the 49th minute, thanks to a nice action by Romario da Silva, author of 5 goals (potential top scorer of this edition).
With this victory, Al-Ittihad advances to the semi-finals and joins his Saudi compatriot Ach-Chabab. The first leg between the two Saudi teams will be held on February 20 in Riyadh.
