Ryanair Halts Domestic Morocco Route After 10 Months

After ten months of activity, the airline Ryanair has decided to cancel the line between Ouarzazate and Tangier, launched only last May.
The Irish low-cost airline had set the fare for this domestic route at 300 dirhams, to the delight of the residents of Ouarzazate and tourism professionals. The launch of this line between Ouarzazate and Tangier was supposed to contribute to boosting the local economy and strengthening tourism activity in the region.
But Ryanair has decided to cancel this line after only ten months of activity, causing a wave of discontent among the residents of Ouarzazate and the industry players.
More than 10,000 travelers transited through Ouarzazate airport in March 2024, an increase of 12% compared to the same period the previous year. These figures show the importance and role of domestic flights in revitalizing the tourism sector and economic development.
To recall, Ryanair had announced last year the launch of 11 domestic flights to 9 Moroccan destinations, namely: Agadir, Errachidia, Essaouira, Fez, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Oujda, Tangier and Tetouan.
