Ryanair Expands Morocco Operations with New Tangier Base, 13 Routes

The airline Ryanair, in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), launched a new base in Tangier on Tuesday, its fourth in Morocco. This was in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, representatives of local authorities and tourism professionals.

Ryanair will open 13 new routes from its new Tangier base to 5 Moroccan cities and 8 European cities as part of its summer 2024 program. This new base of the Irish low-cost airline in Tangier, its fourth in Morocco after Fez, Marrakech and Agadir, required an investment of $200 million and created 600 jobs.

"This significant investment by Ryanair testifies not only to the growing attractiveness of Morocco, but also to the confidence our partners place in our country," said Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor during the inauguration ceremony.

The minister added that "this type of strong partnership paves the way for the realization of our ambition: to make Morocco one of the greatest tourist destinations," stressing that "thanks to this enhanced connectivity, Tangier is ideally positioned to become a leading tourist destination."

This new base in Tangier "is part of our record S24 program (April to September), which will see Ryanair operate over 170 routes across the Kingdom, boosting tourism and connectivity," said Eddie Wilson, Ryanair’s CEO. For this summer, the Irish low-cost carrier plans to serve 12 Moroccan airports and carry over 5 million passengers.
