Rural Moroccan Schools in Crisis: Lawmakers Demand Accountability for Poor Education Quality

A flood of questions and criticisms about the deplorable state of national education institutions in rural areas was unleashed on Khalid Samadi, Secretary of State to the Minister of Education, at the Parliament.
During an oral question session in Parliament, addressed to Khalid Samadi, appointed in 2017 as Secretary of State to the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, in charge of higher education and scientific research, the parliamentarians, whether from the opposition or the majority, did not mince their words in demanding accountability for the poor quality of education in rural areas.
Rue20 writes: "The parliamentarians stated that educational institutions in rural areas were deteriorating more and more and were no longer even suitable for rabbit farming." They also questioned the possibility of teaching in French when the educational infrastructure is in such a state of disrepair.
And, according to the same source, Samadi said that this type of question rather concerns the regional academies and then presented the progress made in relation to school transportation in rural areas. According to him, progress in this area continues and an increase in the number of school buses is planned, with the Ministry ready to conclude partnership agreements with the elected councils.
