Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Flights Between Casablanca and Toronto

The airline Royal Air Maroc has inaugurated a new direct line connecting Casablanca to Toronto. This initiative responds to the growing demand from the Moroccan community in Ontario, an active community that contributes to the Kingdom’s international influence.
The opening of this line is part of a broader development strategy. Royal Air Maroc aims to consolidate its presence in North America, as confirmed by Nour-eddine Ez-zairi, the company’s regional representative in Canada, who expressed the company’s desire to expand its network and strengthen its commercial positioning in North America.
Beyond the simple increase in passenger traffic, this link has a strong symbolic significance. It strengthens the ties between Morocco and Canada, fostering exchanges in fields as varied as the economy, science or culture. This new line, according to the official, will allow the national company to consolidate its regional leadership in Africa and play a central role in connecting Africa to the rest of the world.
The announcement of this direct flight was enthusiastically welcomed by the Moroccan community in Toronto. Narjis Lazrak, president of the Moroccan Association in Toronto, sees it as an important event for the Moroccan community in Toronto and for bilateral relations, specifying that the contribution of Moroccans in Toronto to the development of the city highlights their adaptability and their active contribution to the socio-economic dynamics.
Operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the Casablanca-Toronto line offers three flights per week: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It complements Royal Air Maroc’s device in North America, which already includes flights to New York, Washington, Miami and São Paulo.
But after the praises come the criticisms. Many Moroccans residing in North America had, in the past, strongly criticized the airline’s pricing policy, especially during the long holidays when it was almost impossible for Moroccans living abroad to return to Morocco due to the high cost of tickets. It is now up to the company to find the right balance between the expectations of Moroccans in Canada and its economic imperatives.
A quick simulation of the price of a one-way ticket between Toronto and Casablanca for next July shows tickets at just over 900 Canadian dollars. These should increase significantly by the summer.
