Royal Air Maroc expands Spain routes from Tangier, Tetouan and Nador

The national airline’s offensive in the Iberian market is intensifying. During a press briefing in the Spanish capital, RAM detailed the launch of its new strategic routes for northern Morocco. Tetouan and Tangier will each benefit from three direct flights to Barcelona, Málaga and Madrid. Nador will also be connected to the Catalan capital. These routes bring the number of weekly frequencies between five Moroccan cities and nine Spanish airports to more than 80.

RAM 2037 Strategy: fleet expansion and point-to-point connectivity

This momentum is part of a “point-to-point” development strategy aimed at meeting the surge in tourism demand, business travel and the needs of MREs. With 480,000 passengers transported between the two countries in 2025, Spain is emerging as a highly strategic European market. To support this growth, the airline, the first in Africa to join the oneworld alliance, is undergoing a major transformation defined by the 2023-2037 program contract concluded with the government.

To make its ambition of becoming a major transcontinental hub a reality, RAM has launched a colossal tender for the acquisition of 188 aircraft. The goal is to expand the fleet to reach 72 aircraft by the end of 2026, then surpass the 200-aircraft mark by 2037. This expansion will enable the airline to triple its capacity, welcoming 32 million passengers annually and inaugurating more than one hundred new destinations worldwide.
