Royal Air Maroc charges 890 DH for an extra bag at the airport — 330 DH more than booking ahead
On Royal Air Maroc flights between Morocco and Europe, an extra 23 kg bag can cost 560 or 890 DH, depending on when it is purchased. Travellers can avoid the 330 DH difference by arranging it before departure.
For Moroccans travelling between the kingdom and Europe, adding a bag to their ticket can be a significant expense. In its official excess baggage fee schedule, Royal Air Maroc lists two prices for a first additional 23 kg bag: 560 DH (66 euros) when prepaid and 890 DH (100 euros) at the standard rate. Paying in advance therefore saves around 37% of the amount in dirhams.
The difference comes down to acting before arriving at the airport. The airline lets passengers buy an extra bag directly on its website, up to 24 hours before departure. Travellers who wait until check-in at the airport pay the standard rate, or 330 DH more for the same bag. The discount applies to the first bag added to the allowance already included in the ticket.
Two extra bags: up to 2,795 DH
The bill climbs further when passengers want to take several bags. On routes between Morocco and Europe, Royal Air Maroc charges 1,905 DH, or 200 euros according to its fee schedule, for a second additional 23 kg bag.
A traveller adding two bags at the standard rate would pay 2,795 DH. Buying the first bag in advance brings the total down to 2,465 DH. Prepaying is therefore particularly worthwhile for families returning to Morocco with several bags.

Other fees can also weigh on the travel budget. For the same destinations, a bag weighing between 23 and 32 kg incurs a charge of 705 DH (77 euros). A bag whose total dimensions exceed 158 cm, up to 203 cm, costs 640 DH (70 euros). These amounts appear in the airline’s fee schedule alongside the prices for extra bags.
