Ryanair Hidden Fees Morocco Flights: Consumer Alert

The Ryanair ticket often seems unbeatable at first glance. But as the booking progresses, the bill can quickly change. Baggage, seat, priority boarding, check-in, family options: for many travelers to Morocco, the price displayed at the beginning is not always the one paid at the end.

This is precisely what the Belgian consumer protection association Testachats is denouncing. After an initial judgment handed down on January 28, 2026 by the Brussels business court, it is now demanding that Ryanair be forced to fully implement the decision, under penalty of financial fines.

According to Testachats, Belgian courts have already ruled several practices of the Irish airline unlawful. Among them: announcing a discount based on a false reference price, or messages encouraging the passenger to book quickly by suggesting the flight will soon be full.

The association is demanding a penalty of 5,000 euros per violation and per day of violation if Ryanair does not comply with the judgment within the deadline. It believes that certain elements of the booking process remain opaque or misleading.

The ticket to Morocco that climbs on screen

For Moroccan travelers, the subject is concrete. Ryanair has a strong presence on connections between Europe and Morocco. Many MREs use it for vacations, family returns, short stays or last-minute departures.

The problem is not just the ticket price. It’s the way options appear during booking. Testachats particularly criticizes Ryanair for bundled pricing formulas presented as advantageous, when some services could be purchased separately, sometimes later and cheaper.

Urgency messages like "only a few seats at this price" are also in the crosshairs. For the association, they create artificial pressure on the consumer and can lead to booking too quickly, without truly comparing the final price with that of another airline.

Baggage is at the heart of the issue. On a route to Morocco, especially for a family, adding a suitcase, carry-on baggage or priority boarding can transform a very cheap ticket into a much heavier expense. Testachats therefore demands that prices be clearly displayed from the start, service by service.

Ryanair contests part of the accusations and recalls having won on certain points in Belgium, particularly on the billing of certain carry-on baggage. But judicial pressure is mounting elsewhere in Europe.

In Austria, the Verein für Konsumenteninformation announced that the Supreme Court had ruled 14 of 15 contested additional fee clauses at Ryanair illegal, including airport check-in fees, boarding card fees or those related to young children. According to the VKI, some refund requests could concern fees paid in the past.
