Royal Air Maroc acquires aircraft from a Chinese airline

Royal Air Maroc is preparing to receive a new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner acquired from Xiamen Airlines. This reinforcement brings the number of such aircraft to thirteen, consolidating the leading position of the Moroccan national airline in Africa.

The imminent arrival of this wide-body aircraft marks a key milestone for the national carrier. With this thirteenth aircraft, the company becomes the first operator in Africa to have such a large fleet of Boeing Dreamliners, confirming its ambitions in the international market.

Registered as CN-RHU, the aircraft was officially acquired from the Chinese operator Xiamen Airlines. Before delivery, the aircraft underwent a complete maintenance operation and was painted in Moroccan colors at Haikou Airport in China, in order to immediately join the long-haul network.

This new aircraft is particularly intended to support the company’s transatlantic expansion. It will mainly be used on the new direct routes connecting Casablanca to Los Angeles, thus meeting the growing demand on this strategic route between Morocco and the west coast of the United States.

The aircraft is distinguished by a specific cabin configuration, offering a total capacity of 237 seats, or about 15% less than the other similar aircraft in the fleet. This reduced density prioritizes comfort on very long-haul flights.
