Robert De Niro's Nobu Hotel Opens in Marrakech, Expanding Celebrity Investments in Morocco

American actor Robert De Niro has chosen the city of Marrakech to set up his first hotel in Africa. The Nobu Hotel opened its doors this year.

More and more celebrities are opting to invest in the hotel industry in Morocco, particularly in Marrakech. After Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently opened the Pestana CR7 Marrakech hotel, American actor Robert De Niro is also preparing to launch his hotel’s activities in the ochre city soon, reports El Español.

With his partners, Japanese chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa (73) and film producer Meir Teper, Robert De Niro has decided to renovate the hotel The Pearl Marrakech, which has become the Nobu Hotel. The hotel has 71 high-end suites with a contemporary design combining Japanese decorative elements and Moroccan works of art.

One of the most striking features of the building is its circular floor plan with a panoramic view of the Atlas Mountains or the Koutoubia Mosque. It can host private evenings animated by an internationally renowned DJ and local artists. Nobu Hotel also has a nightclub, a garden and a circular pool for all seasons.

Open all day, its restaurant offers Japanese and international cuisine prepared by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Its sushi bar offers a selection of seasonal dishes and Mediterranean recipes. Robert De Niro’s hotel also has the Lobby Lounge, decorated with a Japanese bonsai, and La Perla, one of the largest spas in the world (over 2,000 square meters) with its 14 private suites, an underground mosaic pool and a hammam.
