Robert De Niro Eyes Film Projects in Morocco, Opens Luxury Hotel in Marrakech

American actor Robert De Niro wishes to shoot films in Marrakech and Morocco, a city and "a great country" that he has fallen in love with.
"I don’t know when and how this dream will take shape and become a reality, but it can be done," Robert De Niro said in an interview with M24, on the sidelines of the inauguration of his hotel, the Nobu Hotel, in Marrakech.
The American actor expressed his pride and joy in inaugurating this hotel in the ochre city, a project carried out with his co-associates, the internationally renowned Japanese Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and the American director Meir Tepper. "I’m happy we’re here," he said.
The 79-year-old Hollywood star considers Morocco as a host country for world cinema. "Several of my friends have shot their films in Morocco. A great country that I have discovered over the years and that I would like to know even better," added De Niro, whose last visit to Morocco dates back to 2018.
The actor had taken part in the Marrakech International Film Festival and received the Golden Star for his entire career. He has also received several other distinctions such as the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019, or the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to him by Barack Obama in 2016.
