Riyadh: Disputes between Moroccan singers spoil the evening
Thursday 7 March 2024, by
A small quarrel between Moroccan artists during the Riyadh Festival, the largest music festival in the Middle East. While some did not appreciate the order of appearance on stage established by the organizers, others spent more time than expected on stage and stole the show from their successor by performing part of their songs.
The Moroccan evening of the Riyadh Festival was disrupted due to squabbles between the Moroccan artists invited to this event. According to the daily Assabah, the artist Hatim Ammor expressed his opposition to the order of appearance on stage established by the organizers, which places him in third position after Abdelouahab Doukkali and Abdelfattah Grini.
Hatim Ammor proposed to take the stage before Elguerini, just after Abdelouahab Doukkali. But this proposal was not validated, the contract signed between the artists and the organizers not mentioning the time of the appearance on stage nor the duration of the performance. Finally, the initial order of appearance was maintained.
In turn, Abdelfattah Grini got angry, deploring Ammor’s remarks that Grini is not a Moroccan artist, most of his songs being performed in the Egyptian dialect. Later, the organizers had to manage another clash between the popular singer Zina Daoudia and Hatim Ammor. The former denounced the fact that the latter, who went on stage before her, had taken up some of her hits.
The climax, Hatim Ammor allowed himself to spend more than an hour on stage, despite the reminders to order from the organizers. This irritated the popular singer who was waiting in the wings.
