Rising Star Eliesse Ben Seghir Boosts Morocco’s Attack in World Cup Qualifiers

With his exceptional technical abilities, Eliesse Ben Seghir infuses a new dynamic into the attack of the Atlas Lions. The 19-year-old player that Morocco snatched from France is in fact the missing piece that Walid Regragui had been dreaming of.
Eliesse Ben Seghir, the "expected Messi" of football?! In a short time, he has shown a rapid adaptation with Morocco and has been decisive. Lined up for his first match with the Atlas Lions in March, he scored his first goal for the national team against Zambia (2-1).
A starter against Congo (6-0), he provided an assist, allowing his teammate Azzedine Ounahi to open the scoring. The player fills the lack of offensive animation, one of the reasons that justify the poor performances of the Moroccan team - in particular the early elimination at the CAN Ivory Coast 2023 - after its historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Walid Regragui has managed to find an ideal replacement for Sofiane Boufal, currently in poor form. Since Eliesse’s arrival, the attack of the Moroccan national team has become more dynamic and more active. The coach of the Moroccan team no longer suffers from the lack of offensive animation on the left side. He has made the 19-year-old player an important and rare piece that forces the opponents of the Atlas Lions to redouble their caution against Morocco.
