Morocco Thrashes Congo 6-0 as Coach Regragui’s Tactical Shift Pays Off

The Moroccan national football team delivered an excellent performance by winning 6-0 against Congo on Tuesday at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir. Behind this success lies the strategy of Walid Regragui, the national coach, who completely changed his strategy after the match against Zambia.
Faced with the criticism after the dull match against Zambia, despite the 2-1 victory, Regragui maintained his trust in Hakim Ziyech, the captain of the Lions. A choice that proved to be successful as Ziyech was one of the offensive engines of the Moroccan team.
Another strong choice: the replacement of Youssef En-Nesyri and Ghanem Saïss by Chadi Riad and Ayoub El Kaabi. This change allowed to inject new dynamism into the Moroccan attack, with Riad scoring his first goal with the Lions and El Kaabi signing a hat-trick.
It is impossible not to highlight the excellent performance of Azzedine Ounahi. Criticized after his recent performances, the midfielder responded in the best possible way by scoring a goal and providing an assist. Ounahi was omnipresent in midfield, recovering balls, organizing the game and projecting himself forward. This was less the case in the 2nd half where fatigue took over.
Similarly, the young Eliesse Ben Seghir, who is asserting himself match after match and who will undoubtedly become one of the leaders of the group in the coming years. His performances are also highlighted at each press conference of Walid Regragui.
The coach also surprised with his flexible tactical system, switching from the usual 4-1-4-1 to a 4-2-2-2 during the match, even transforming into a 3-4-3. This ability to adapt allowed the Moroccans to adapt to the different phases of the game and take complete control of the match.
Beyond the tactical choices and individual performances, it is above all the regained team spirit of the Atlas Lions that allowed this overwhelming and decisive victory. We find a certain atmosphere of the World Cup in Qatar.
