Rif Hirak Leader Zefzafi and Detainees Open to Dialogue with Moroccan Authorities

Nasser Zefzafi and the other detainees of the Rif Hirak agree to negotiate with the Moroccan authorities in order to definitively close the case concerning them.

Nasser Zefzafi, Mohamed Haki, Mohamed Jelloul, Nabil Ahemjiq, Samir Aghid and Zakaria Adehchour would have consented in writing to definitively close the chapter of the Rif Hirak and to engage in dialogue with the authorities, said the father of the movement’s leader in a Facebook post.

Ahmed Zefzafi announced that "the Tafra Association for the Loyalty and Solidarity of the Families and Detainees of the Popular Hirak of the Rif, although not recognized by the State, will be their sole interlocutor with the parties willing to negotiate".

In June 2018, four leaders of the "Rif Hirak" social protest movement were sentenced to 20 years in prison. They were charged with "conspiracy to undermine the security of the State". Three other defendants were sentenced to 15 years in prison.
