Renault to Manufacture New Kardian Model in Morocco, Expanding Global Production

The new Kardian, the first of the eight production models unveiled on Wednesday during the announcement of Renault’s "International game plan 2027" in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will be partially manufactured in Morocco, "the second largest production country for the brand worldwide."

Renault Group plans to start production of the new Kardian at the Curitiba (Brazil) plant before continuing it at the Casablanca (SOMACA) plant in Morocco, reports the daily Les Inspirations Éco. Why the SOMACA plant? This choice is explained by its performance and flexibility. It is the pioneering plant of the national automotive industry "Today, Morocco is the second largest production country for the Renault Group worldwide, representing 17% of the group’s sales worldwide," the manufacturer specifies. During his visit to Morocco at the beginning of the month, Luca De Meo, CEO of Renault Group, announced that the group’s production capacity in Morocco will be increased to 500,000 vehicles per year by 2025.

The new Renault Kardian is a compact and urban SUV in the B segment. The vehicle inaugurates a new modular and highly versatile platform from the Renault Group, which will host a total of eight models by 2027 reserved for non-European markets: Latin America, North Africa-Turkey, India and South Korea. "The ultra-flexibility of this platform will thus make it possible to offer customers very different bodies and silhouettes," we are told. The new Kardian is equipped with quite modern interior equipment including Eco, Sport and MySense driving modes, a 7-inch digital dashboard, an 8-inch multimedia screen, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The new Renault Kardian will be marketed in Latin American markets. Its marketing will start in Morocco in the second half of 2024.
