Renault’s Global Sales Surge: Morocco Emerges as Top 10 Market, Leading MENA Region

Morocco is now Renault’s tenth largest global market and the first in the entire Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in terms of sales, with 44,497 vehicles sold in the first nine months of 2023.
Apart from Morocco, no other country in this region is among the group’s 15 largest markets. In the top 5 of Renault’s global markets, we find France (407,289 units sold), Italy (135,619), Turkey (120,953), Germany (114,382) and Spain (96,026). By the end of September 2023, the group’s sales have increased by 10.9% compared to the same period last year. To date, Renault has already sold more than one and a half million vehicles worldwide, reports Atalayar.
The French brand has managed to establish itself as one of the most important in Europe, becoming the second best-selling on the continent with a growth of 22% compared to last year. With nearly half a million sales, Dacia, a subsidiary of the Renault group, also increased its sales by more than 16% by the end of September compared to last year. The Dacia Jogger is the best-selling model (76% more than in 2022), followed by the Spring (40%), the Sandero (18.3%) and the Duster (4.1%).
In terms of revenue, Renault exceeded 37 billion euros by the end of September 2023, more than 20% more than in 2022. Morocco contributed to this increase by exporting 86% of the vehicles produced in the Casablanca or Tanger-Med factories. An upward trend that will continue due to increased investment in the sector. Renault Morocco recently announced the production of the New Kardian at the Somaca plant and its marketing in the second half of 2024.
The Kardian is the first of eight models that Renault will produce as part of its "Renault Brand International Game Plan 2027" presented in Rio de Janeiro on October 25. The French group considers Morocco the ideal place to start production of this model and assures that "the industrialization of Kardian in Somaca is a guarantee of the Moroccan industrial platform".
