Renault Dominates Moroccan Auto Market with 50% Share, 92-Year Presence

Established in Morocco for 92 years, the Renault Group has paved the way for the automotive industry in the kingdom and remains the undisputed leader in the national market. Nearly half of the vehicles sold in Morocco are marketed by the Group through its two brands, Renault and Dacia.
The Renault Morocco Group has its factories in the cities of Tangier and Casablanca, with an industrial capacity of 440,000 vehicles per year, i.e. 340,000 units for the Tangier plant opened since 2012 and 100,000 vehicles per year for the Casablanca plant opened since 1966. The history of the Group in Morocco has seen a new impetus in 2012 with the inauguration of the Renault-Tangier plant, the largest automotive plant in Africa. The Renault plant in Tangier is the largest south of the Mediterranean, and the first in the world, designed to be carbon neutral, reports industries.ma.
By exporting the majority of their production, the Moroccan factories of the Renault Group have ensured the success of "made in Morocco" vehicles through a range composed of the Logan, Sandero and Sandero Stepway models produced at the Renault plant in Casablanca (SOMACA) as well as Dacia Sandero, Dokker and Lodgy manufactured at the Renault Plant in Tangier.
The group plans to reach 65% local integration rate and 2.2 billion euros in sourcing turnover by 2023, the same source said.
