Real Madrid Stuns Manchester City in Champions League Thriller

The Etihad Stadium was full of twists and turns on Tuesday evening. Real Madrid, led by an in-form Brahim Díaz, thwarted Manchester City’s plans in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 (2-3). The Merengues leave Spain with a precious advantage, but qualification is far from assured.
From the start of the match, the Merengues showed great determination. Brahim Díaz, particularly effective, quickly showed his team’s ability to exploit the opponents’ weaknesses. "We took advantage of their mistakes well," he said to Movistar Plus+ after the match.
While the opportunities were numerous for the visitors, Brahim Díaz refuses to make any hasty judgments on the outcome of the match. "I don’t like to talk about justice or injustice, we all know what football is," he said. The midfielder prefers to highlight the overall performance: "I think we had a great game. Here, it’s not easy against a very strong team."
The Moroccan international, the scorer, also saluted the performance of his teammates, especially that of Jude Bellingham, author of the decisive goal. "Bellingham goes all out, we can see on the pitch that he gives everything for the team and, once again, he has shown it," he noted. Kylian Mbappé also participated in the success by scoring a goal.
Despite this away success, Brahim Díaz calls for caution. "First of all, it’s not over yet. There’s the return leg left," he warned. The player then spoke about his time in the Manchester City ranks, when he was younger. "I spent several years here and I am very grateful to them," he explained, before adding: "I am in the best club in the world, I am very happy here, where I have always dreamed of being."
The return leg, which will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu, promises to be difficult. The Citizens, in a delicate situation, will have to give everything to reverse the trend. Real Madrid, in a position of strength, will have to confirm its performance to reach the quarter-finals.
