Rapper French Montana Responds to Shooting at Miami Video Shoot

American rapper of Moroccan origin, French Montana, reacted to the shooting that occurred at The Licking restaurant in Miami Gardens, Florida, where he was filming a music video.
"Last night (Thursday, January 5), I was in Miami to celebrate the release of my mixtape CB6 with friends at a local restaurant," French Montana wrote on his Twitter account. "We were unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time when an incident occurred, and several people were injured. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families at this time," he added.
According to witnesses, a shooting took place at the soul food restaurant near Northwest 27th Avenue and 177th Street, The Licking in Miami Gardens, Florida, just before 8 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, January 5, reported 7News. "It was very fast, it looked like an assault rifle. I started running. [...] It was at least 13, 14, 15 gunshots," said rapper Ced Mogul, who says he went to the restaurant to attend the filming of a music video by rapper French Montana. According to him, the theft of a watch and a wallet would be the cause of the shooting.
At 10 p.m. (local time), Miami Gardens detective Diana Gorgue confirmed that there had been multiple gunshots and injuries, and that her team and she were still on the scene. However, she did not provide details on the number of injured, as an investigation is ongoing. But according to eyewitnesses, ten people were hit. Four victims were airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center. One of the victims is said to be in critical condition.
On Friday, Miami Gardens Police Chief Noel-Pratt described the incident as a "senseless tragedy" that could have been avoided if the organizers had obtained the required permits from the city. "If the necessary agencies had been informed in advance and the protocol had been followed, police officers would have been in place to protect the community and help deter and respond, if necessary, to any situation that might arise," he added.
