Rapper French Montana Joins Gamma, Turns Down $20 Million Offer

The American rapper of Moroccan origin French Montana has signed a contract with Gamma, after refusing a nice offer. Previously, he had worked with majors - notably Epic and Interscope in the United States - and independents like Empire.
"I’ve known French for over 10 years and I’m very happy that he’s joining our company, because he’s a true multidisciplinary artist who fits into Gamma’s philosophy," said Larry Jackson, co-founder and CEO of Gamma, also praising his documentary For Khadija, and his new single Good Summer, which blends the timeless charm of Wayne Wonder’s iconic hit "No letting go" with the contagious groove of Nuskie’s "New Orleans Bounce". "In my opinion, French Montana is also the best hip-hop A&R of the last decade. His ability to bring out the best in his artists and producers is unparalleled. He continually surprises me in his musical direction and his ability to produce hit after hit, all certified diamond. He’s a real talent," he added.
French Montana turned down a $20 million deal to remain independent in partnership with Gamma and its Vydian distribution arm, reports Digital Music News, without specifying the name of the company. "Larry, Breyon [Prescott] and I have known each other for a long time," said the 3-time Grammy-winning, diamond-certified rapper. "What he’s built over the years at Apple is unmatched in the music industry, and that’s why I signed with Gamma. The progress they’ve already made as a company since their launch is incredible, especially the innovative way they’re tackling African-origin artists and their music."
Launched earlier this year, Gamma is a multimedia platform that prioritizes artists by offering them creative and commercial services in all artistic and commercial formats. It has partnered with Snoop Dogg and the Death Row label, Rick Ross, Naomi Campbell and The Shade Room.
