Raja Casablanca Wins CAF Super Cup, Secures $400,000 Prize

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will open their wallets and each give the Raja club 2 million dirhams.

This Friday, March 29, in Doha, Qatar, the RCA defeated Espérance Sportive de Tunis 2-1, thus winning the 2019 CAF Super Cup. It should be noted that this is the second time the Raja has won this title, the first being in 2000.

This year, the FRMF will pay a bonus of 2 million dirhams to the RCA for this victory and the CAF will do the same, the same amount, 2 million dirhams to the greens.

The CAF Super Cup is an African football competition that pits the winner of the CAF Champions League (this year Espérance de Tunis) against the winner of the Confederation Cup (this year the RCA) every year since 1993.

To recall, last year’s edition of this CAF Super Cup was won by another Moroccan club, also from Casablanca, namely the WAC.

This is only the second time that two clubs from the same country have won this title in a one-year interval. The first was in 2002 and 2003, won successively by Al Ahly, then Zamalek, both from Cairo.
