Raja Casablanca Clinches $6 Million Prize in Arab Champions Cup Final

The winner of the Mohammed VI Cup for Arab champion clubs has been known since Saturday evening. Raja Casablanca won by beating Ittihad of Jeddah on penalties at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
And two for Raja, who thus won their second Arab League title after a rather crazy match against the Saudis of Ittihad. Ilias Haddad, Mahmoud Benhalib, Zakaria El Wardi and Soufiane Rahimi scored for the Moroccans, while Ittihad’s goals were scored by Bruno Henrique and Romarinho. The two teams ended up 4-4 on penalties without extra time. A shootout at the end of which Raja emerged victorious.
Second title for RCA after that of 2006 against the Egyptian team of ENPPI. Raja is thus following in the footsteps of Wydad Casablanca, winner in 1989 against the Saudis of Al Hilal 3-1 at the El Harti stadium in Marrakech.
With this $6 million victory, Raja finds a solution to its financial troubles and could also reward the players with the substantial bonus promised in case of victory.
