Good news for the residents of Selouane! The railway line connecting this city to the Port of Nador West Med will be operational in early 2023. It will transport goods from this destination to the port, whose progress rate is estimated at around 40%.
To this end, a call for tenders has been launched by the Office to start the studies in order to establish the rail connection between the new port infrastructure and the neighboring town of Selouane, reports Médias24.
Nador West Med is the public company "Nador West Med", responsible for the realization, development, development and management of the industrial and port complex.
52 km long, this railway line on which trains will be able to run at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour will be delivered no later than the beginning of 2023. For the moment, no information has leaked on the cost of the infrastructure. It includes a large deep-water port for container transshipment, the development of an energy hub and the processing of bulk products such as coal, as well as an integrated industrial platform open to investors, a 1,500-hectare free zone and an adjacent development area of nearly 2,500 hectares.
The Nador West Med project is part of Morocco’s strategy to develop port infrastructure by 2030, and is built on the model of that of Tanger-Med.
