Radical Islamists in Morocco Urge Defiance of COVID-19 Mask Mandates

While the spread of covid-19 continues to follow an upward trend in Morocco, some extremists have called on the population to disobey, and threatened those who wear masks.
According to witnesses, four extremists went to the so-called "Souika" market to call on citizens to disobey. They repeatedly recited this Quranic verse: "Nothing will reach us except what Allah has prescribed for us."
The same sources claim that extremists, dressed in traditional Afghan clothes, would have confronted a street vendor who was selling homemade masks. It was also reported that radical Islamists were regularly making loud raids in the streets of Nador, which borders the occupied enclave of Melilla, reports Assabah.
Radical Islamist movements such as Al Adl Wal Ihsane, the Unity and Reform Movement (MUR), Al Hijra Wa Takfir (Exile and anathema) and Da’wa Wa Tabligh (Announcement and message) have invested in this city. Da’wa Wa Tabligh has moreover called to "isolate from the ignorant, spatially and emotionally," it is reported.
