Rabat saturated: mission impossible to find housing

Finding a bed in Rabat is now a mission impossible, and this will last until February 2026. Despite the recent opening of several establishments to strengthen the tourist offer, the city’s accommodation capacity has reached its limits. The main reason for this shortage? The near-total "requisition" of five-star hotels by official delegations and teams from the four groups based in the region. On online booking platforms like Booking, the results show a desperate zero availability.

Faced with this deadlock, the demand is massively shifting towards the alternative rental market. Furnished apartments in Rabat, but also in its immediate suburbs (Salé, Témara, Kénitra), are being stormed, particularly by Moroccans living abroad who have returned for the event.

For many, the solution now lies in commuting. Lacking a roof in the capital, hundreds of fans have opted for accommodation in Casablanca, Tangier or Fez. They will rely on the rail link set up by ONCF, which has deployed special night trains to allow spectators to return home after the matches. This saturation, a real-life "stress test", is already raising the question of the urgency of accelerating hotel investments in the perspective of the 2030 World Cup.
