Rabat Police Arrest Two Suspects in Rape and Blackmail Case

In Rabat, the judicial police elements of the 3rd district arrested two repeat offenders suspected of having raped and blackmailed a young woman using photos and videos taken on the day of the rape.
The arrest of these two individuals follows the complaint of a thirty-year-old woman. The events took place in the Zaer district. The victim told the police officers that the two alleged rapists forced her to film herself in positions contrary to morals under the threat of knives, reports Al Akhbar. Then they blackmailed her with photos and videos.
The police elements conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of the two accused in a house belonging to the family of one of them. It turned out that they are repeat offenders. The investigators also seized a mobile phone containing the filmed videos. During the interrogation, they initially denied the accusations in full before confessing.
Pending their appearance in court, the public prosecutor’s office requested additional investigation by the police. The charges that could be brought against them are: rape, kidnapping and blackmail using images taken without the victim’s consent.
