Rabat: opening until 2am, the jackpot expected by cafes and restaurants

This is a breath of fresh air for the local economy as the Africa Cup of Nations approaches. The city of Rabat has just made an exceptional extension of opening hours for businesses official. Starting this Wednesday, the capital will live to the rhythm of the supporters until the end of the night to capture the financial benefits of the event.

The nights of the capital will be extended for the greatest delight of the professionals. From Wednesday, December 17 until January 24, 2026, the shutters of the establishments will no longer be lowered before two o’clock in the morning.

This exemption specifically targets cafes, restaurants and all services related to tourism activity. The stated objective of the commune president is pragmatic: to allow merchants to maximize their profits and take advantage of the unique commercial momentum that the competition will generate.

The city is preparing for record consumption. Rabat has taken the lion’s share of the organization with 18 matches scheduled on its soil, far ahead of Casablanca or Marrakech, which will each host only eight.

To absorb this flow of spectators, the capital is mobilizing four venues, including the 68,000-seat Prince Moulay Abdellah complex. With this measure, the authorities ensure that the service offer will meet the massive demand of the fans from the kick-off on December 21.
