Marrakech: Hotels Fully Booked

The competition, which will take place from December 21 to January 18, 2026, is acting as a demand accelerator. Several African delegations have already booked a dozen major hotels for the entire duration of the tournament, even before the exact match schedule at the Grand Stadium was known. The Secretary General of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT), Mustapha Amalik, interviewed by Médias24, speaks of a "historic" season ahead. The massive influx of supporters, members of the diaspora, and the media, combined with the usual tourist clientele, has literally saturated the accommodation offer.

This particular configuration will modify the usual seasonality of the destination. While the city traditionally achieves its best scores between December 24 and January 2, the AFCON will allow the high season to be extended by an additional two weeks, until January 18. This extension guarantees sustained activity during a period of the month that is usually calmer.

The economic impact is expected to be significant. A source from the Hotel Industry Federation estimates that this "combined effect" should generate a bonus of at least 90,000 additional visitors for Marrakech, which will establish itself as the festive capital of the event. Of the 800,000 tickets sold by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), nearly 250,000 have been purchased by foreigners, who must justify a hotel reservation to obtain their Fan ID. This dynamic will benefit the entire ecosystem, including alternative accommodations such as riads and short-term rentals.
