Rabat Authorities Ban Public Protests Amid Health Emergency Concerns

The local authorities of the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region have announced the ban on any gathering or assembly on public roads. This clarification follows calls published on social networks inviting the population to a protest march next Sunday in Rabat.
In a press release, the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region indicated that the ban on gathering or assembly makes it possible to avoid any violation of the provisions of the state of health emergency enacted in the framework of the preservation of the health of citizens. These provisions, the statement continues, aim to ensure the safety of populations given the negative impacts of gatherings on public roads on the epidemiological situation.
It is on this basis that the authorities of the wilaya of the region have reaffirmed their firm determination to execute this decision of prohibition and to repress firmly any act aimed at violating the provisions of the state of health emergency. They also called on the population to observe the restrictions in order to preserve the encouraging results recorded by the kingdom in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
