Moroccan Authorities Ban Teacher Protest in Rabat Amid COVID-19 Restrictions

The authorities of the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region have once again recalled that the ban on any gathering or assembly on public roads remains in force, to remain in line with the provisions of the state of health emergency. This reminder is a warning sent to the teachers who plan to organize a march next Tuesday.
In a press release, the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region indicates that it has learned, according to publications on social networks and attributed to the "National Coordination of Teachers Forced to Contractualization", that forms of demonstrations on public roads accompanied by a national gathering in the city of Rabat will be organized on Tuesday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Such an initiative goes against the preventive measures taken by the Government to curb the spread of Covid-19, following the appearance of new strains. Similarly, the extension of the state of health emergency until April 10, 2021 is a sufficient reason to do without such a gathering or assembly.
The authorities of the Wilaya of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra are keen to remind all those who call for this type of demonstration that it is necessary to respect the decision of prohibition. They will be held responsible for any consequences resulting from acts contrary to this decision, the press release states.
