Qatari Prince’s Palace Manager on Trial for $200,000 Embezzlement in Marrakech

Sentenced in the first instance to two years in prison, the person in charge of managing the accounts of the palace of the Prince of Qatar in Marrakech appeared on Monday before the court of appeal. The defendant is accused of breach of trust and misappropriation of two million dirhams.
For the defense of the accused, the appeal could be an opportunity to drop the charges against their client, who has been incarcerated for two months in the Oudaya prison. She was in charge of managing the assets of the Qatari palace within the company Perle de Marrakech.
By carrying out the bank reconciliation, her employer had noted embezzlement in the palace’s account. The estimated shortfall of 2 million dirhams had prompted him to file a complaint.
The defendant, who had been hired in 2017, was ordered to pay the company a lump sum of 100,000 dirhams in compensation for the damage suffered.
