PSG’s Hakimi Struggles in 1-1 Draw Against Nice, Earning Low Ratings from Media

PSG failed to get past Nice in a 1-1 draw that left its mark. Among the individual performances criticized, that of Achraf Hakimi was particularly disappointing. The Moroccan international, rated 4 by most specialized media, had a difficult evening both defensively and offensively.
From the first minutes, Hakimi was put in difficulty by a Jérémie Boga in great shape. "Defensively, Hakimi struggled against an opponent in good shape," observes Le Parisien, who gave him a rating of 4. An opinion shared by Paristeam, who points out that the Moroccan full-back "did not show his best face tonight" and also rates his performance a 4. He failed to contain the Nice attacks, often struggling in the duels. His game was also marked by a rise in frustration, illustrated by a yellow card received in the 36th minute for protesting after a foul suffered from Dante.
Offensively, Hakimi was unable to bounce back. "He lost 16 balls," notes Parisfans (rating 5), a worrying figure for a defender who usually projects himself well forward. His crosses, however essential in the Parisian system, rarely found a recipient, as Le Parisien points out. His technical errors were numerous, particularly during a first half described as "failed" by several observers. 90min.com, who also gave him a 4/10, notes that "the Moroccan international was not the author of a very beautiful first half in the offensive zone". His attempts to make the difference lacked precision and impact.
The second half showed a somewhat more encouraging face, even if it was not enough to straighten the bar completely. Hakimi regained a little more freedom in his lane and multiplied the runs forward. Parisfans notes that he "got into his game" and made some differences after the break. However, as 90min.com points out, "he lacked lucidity and accuracy to make real differences". A rise in power that remains too limited to erase the disappointment of a first half largely below his usual level.
Another important point, his understanding with Ousmane Dembélé, which had shown promise in previous matches, did not work against Nice. Paristeam mentions a "connection lacking fluidity compared to recent weeks". This weakness in the connection between the two players deprived PSG of a crucial offensive lever, particularly in the absence of their usual influence on the fast phases of play.
With an overall rating ranging from 4 to 5 depending on the media, Achraf Hakimi’s performance raises questions. If his performance showed signs of improvement in the second half, it was not enough to make up for a disappointing first half marked by numerous inaccuracies. He will have to recover quickly to regain his best level as the Morocco match against the Central African Republic approaches.
