PSG’s Achraf Hakimi Becomes World’s Highest-Paid Defender with New Contract

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is now the highest-paid defender in the world. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has just extended his contract until 2029 with a salary of 14 million euros net per season.
On Friday, PSG announced the renewal of the contracts of Luis Enrique and three key players of the Parisian team, including Achraf Hakimi. The contract of the Atlas Lion, which was due to expire in the summer of 2026, has been extended until June 2029.
For these three additional years, the Parisian captain will receive a salary of 14 million euros net (28 million gross) per season, compared to 10 million euros net (20 million) currently, reports Mundo Deportivo, specifying that with this salary, Hakimi becomes the highest-paid right-back in the world.
The 26-year-old player is in Luis Enrique’s plans and as captain, remains a key piece of the Parisian squad. This season, the Moroccan international has scored two goals in 16 appearances out of 21 league matches. In the Champions League, he has played 6 matches out of 8, during which he has scored one goal.
