Protesters in Morocco's Capital Rally Against Israeli Knesset President's Visit, Oppose Normalization

A demonstration was organized by activists in Rabat to protest against the visit to Morocco of Amir Ohana, the President of the Knesset and a member of the Likud party. The protesters expressed their disagreement not only with the presence of the Israeli official, but also with the normalization of relations between Israel and Morocco.

"No normalization with the occupier, resistance is the solution", "From Rabat to Palestine, one people, not two", or "Morocco is a free land, Ohana out", could be read on the placards carried by the demonstrators.

The protesters also burned an Israeli flag while chanting "Destroy the Zionists and the Americans". Some protesters, members of civil society organizations and human rights defenders, expressed their refusal to see the Moroccan government use the Sahara issue to justify a normalization of relations with Israel.

Meanwhile, Amir Ohana was sharing a photo of his stay in Morocco on Twitter, accompanied by the message "سلاماً المغرب – Hello Morocco", written in Arabic, Hebrew and French. He also visited a synagogue in Rabat, where his father, Meir Ohana, used to pray, as he revealed in a post on his personal account.
