Prominent Moroccan Royal Watcher and Online Activist Dies at Home

Soufiane El Bahri, a famous online activist and administrator of the Facebook page Les Amoureux du Roi Mohammed VI, died this Monday morning.
According to sources close to the family, he succumbed to a heart attack at his home in Salé.
Despite rapid care by the emergency services and his transfer to the hospital, the doctors’ efforts were in vain. El Bahri was a well-known figure on the Moroccan digital scene, particularly for his publications of exclusive photos of King Mohammed VI in unofficial contexts. This activity had earned him significant popularity among Internet users, as well as media around the world.
Soufiane El Bahri had been pardoned by the sovereign in 2022. The court of first instance in Salé had sentenced him to one year in prison. Arrested near a restaurant in the Bouregreg Marina, then detained in the Al Arjat prison, Soufiane El Bahri was prosecuted for "public drunkenness, disturbance of public order and humiliation and insults on officials during the exercise of their duties". He had caused disturbances in public places while under the influence of alcohol.
