Predator Oil & Gas Begins Testing at Moroccan Guercif Gas Field in Late January

The oil and gas company Predator Oil & Gas, holder of the onshore oil and gas exploration license in northeastern Morocco, is initiating the first stage of the process focused on the evaluation of specific sands within the broader Ma and TGB 2 intervals in MOU-1 and MOU-3.

Predator Oil & Gas announced that the launch of the platform-less testing program in the onshore oil and gas exploration license in Guercif is expected to begin around January 29, 2024 for a duration of approximately 14 days. The drilling of the MOU-1 well in 2021, as well as the MOU-3 and MOU-4 wells in 2023, have been completed in preparation for platform-less testing in early 2024, the company said in a statement, specifying that it is focusing on the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) to the Moroccan industrial market.

This first phase of testing is the first step in the process focused on the evaluation of specific sands within the broader Ma and TGB 2 intervals in MOU-1 and MOU-3. It is part of the work program developed by Predator Oil & Gas for 2024, including platform-less well testing and discretionary evaluation and exploration drilling, subject to regulatory consent and approvals. This program aims to progressively increase the potential resources for the evolving development of CNG.

"By way of illustration, gas flows between 1 and 3 million cubic feet per day (mm cfgpd) from each of these wells, in the event of success, could potentially be sufficient to support a future pilot CNG development option," the company explains, also noting that it plans additional drilling activities this year to further evaluate the MOU-4 well.

Recently, Predator Oil & Gas announced that it has signed a 12-month exclusive negotiation agreement with Afriquia Gaz S.A. for a legally binding gas sales and collaboration agreement. It would sell compressed natural gas from its Guercif license under this agreement.
