British Firm Begins Drilling New Gas Well in Morocco, Eyes Helium Potential

Drilling work on the MOU-5 well in Tendrara began on Monday, March 3, as announced by Paul Griffiths, CEO of the British gas exploration company Predator Oil.
These works will be followed by tests to accurately determine the production capacity of this well, estimated at several trillion cubic feet of gas. If these forecasts are confirmed, the MOU-5 could be connected to the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline, located only 2.5 km away.
In addition to natural gas, Predator Oil wants to explore helium, 20 times more expensive than gas, in the MOU-5 well. According to Paul Griffiths, CEO of Predator Oil, this well could yield up to $2.9 million worth of helium. At the end of the MOU-5 project, the British gas exploration company should return to the MOU-3 well for which it hopes to obtain an operating concession to produce on a "large scale".
It should be recalled that the CEO of Predator Oil had mentioned at the end of January the possibility of disengaging from its gas assets in Guercif, while maintaining those with significant helium potential. However, this disengagement would be conditional on "marketable" flows on MOU-5, he had specified.
