Moroccan Oil Exploration Yields Promising Results in Tendrara

The oil and gas company Predator Oil & Gas, holder of the onshore oil and gas exploration license in northeastern Morocco, publishes the preliminary results of the drilling work on the MOU-5 well in Tendrara, started on March 3.

Begun on March 3 and completed in just 10 days, the drilling of the MOU-5 well, carried out on the Guercif permit, made it possible to confirm the presence of the Domerian carbonate formation. This formation is a potential hydrocarbon reservoir, which may contain gas or oil. A helium index of 1,557 ppm was also detected 16 meters above the Domerian carbonate formation. Another revelation: the discovery of a 30-meter-thick sand layer of good quality "never observed before in the Guercif basin."

"The results of the MOU-5 drilling program have revealed a new Jurassic geological trend never explored before in the Guercif basin. The presence of a helium index strengthens our desire to further evaluate the helium potential of the MOU-5 structure," says Paul Griffiths, CEO of the British gas exploration company Predator Oil. He will add: "The confirmation of our initial geological concept and seismic inversion models, based on limited 2D seismic data, now allows us to acquire additional targeted data to clarify the upstream potential of the formation."

The MOU-5 well has been suspended for future re-entry. What about the next step? Predator Oil & Gas plans to refine its data interpretation in the coming months and explore partnerships to undertake a three-dimensional seismic acquisition. "The next step is to analyze the well data, then seek a partner to finance the Jurassic project," Griffiths continues.
