US Praises Morocco’s Leadership in Renewable Energy Transition

For its "remarkable" commitment and considerable efforts towards a rapid transition to renewable energy, Morocco has been congratulated and encouraged by the United States, which has hailed its "recognized leadership" in Africa and in the world.
For a few years now, Morocco has been multiplying actions for a rapid transition to renewable energy and remains an example for many countries. In a press release issued on the occasion of the working visit to Morocco by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the State Department states that "Morocco’s commitment to achieving 52% of renewable energy production capacity by 2025 is remarkable and the world should take note of it".
The statement stresses that "Morocco is a leader in the transition to renewable energy and climate action. Renewable energy now accounts for an impressive 45% of total electricity production".
For American diplomacy, Morocco "intends to match" the commitment made by the US government to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The United States specifies that currently, one of the difficulties for Morocco in terms of climate is the water shortage, given the drought that dictates its law, with its share of consequences in the fields, households and every vital sector of the Moroccan economy.
