Poverty Linked to Two Suicides in Moroccan Cities of Tetouan and Tiznit

A double suicide occurred in Tetouan and Tiznit, respectively, by a sexagenarian and a thirty-year-old. The cause of this tragedy is nothing other than the prevailing misery these two men were going through.

It is the incomprehension within the victims’ families, who still cannot understand the reasons that led them to take their own lives.

Indeed, a few hours after the celebration of the Feast of Sacrifice, a family man committed suicide on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, by jumping from the third floor of a building located on Boulevard Abdelkrim Al Khatabi in Tetouan, where he lived with his wife and two children, reports 2m.ma.

Without any letter or justification for his tragic decision, it is difficult at this stage to determine the motive for his suicide. However, it is reported that the deceased was going through a serious financial crisis. Pending the autopsy requested by the competent authorities, the same media indicates that his remains were evacuated to the morgue of Saniat Rmal Hospital.

On the same day but, this time, in Tiznit, a thirty-year-old man managed to end his life by hanging. He was single and a day laborer, originally from the town of Infi and settled in Tiznit to earn a living. For now, the reasons justifying this tragedy have not yet been elucidated, even if some say he was working hard without good pay.
