Portuguese Travel Agency Cancels Trips to Al Hoceima After Tourist Complaints

The Portuguese travel agency Abreu has announced the cancellation of all trips to Al Hoceima, as well as the removal from its website of all promotional offers related to the region. A decision that will certainly have a negative impact on tourism in this Moroccan city.

Abreu made this decision following complaints from some clients who had recently visited Al Hoceima and have a bad memory of it. Last week, 52 Portuguese tourists were staying in the city where they would have had a bad experience. While they had booked rooms at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Al Hoceima, they were forced to wait for hours before settling in, as some of the rooms were occupied upon their arrival.

A situation that caused the discontent of the Portuguese tourists who were not at the end of their troubles. The quality of services within the complex was disappointing, said the visitors, deploring the lack of hygiene and non-compliance with sanitary standards, which led 48 members of the group to catch gastroenteritis and 18 members of the same family to suffer from serious health complications. Two of them were hospitalized upon their return to Portugal.

Following these complaints, Abreu had to make a radical decision to protect its reputation. This is what justifies the cancellation of trips to Al Hoceima and the removal of all promotional offers from the region from the travel agency’s website. Surely, this decision will have a considerable negative impact on tourism in Al Hoceima, which has seen strong growth in recent years thanks to the efforts made to develop the tourism sector in the region.
