Police Bust International Bike Theft Ring Spanning France and Morocco

Police dismantled an international stolen bicycle trafficking ring on Wednesday. In total, four suspects were apprehended and about ten bicycles destined for Morocco were seized.
The suspects were arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Bordeaux police, in collaboration with the Toulouse police, regarding the disappearance of an electric bicycle worth a thousand euros. Investigators from the Bordeaux police station managed to geolocate the bicycle thanks to a chip integrated into the two-wheeler. The signal indicated that the bicycle was in Toulouse, more precisely over 200 km from the place of theft, reports La Dépêche.
Alerted by their Bordeaux counterparts, the Haute-Garonne police went to the right bank of the Bayonne road. On site, an officer identified a suspicious delivery truck. The four men on board, aged between 47 and 60, showed signs of nervousness when faced with questions from the police, who decided to inspect the vehicle.
After a thorough search, they discovered inside the truck the bicycle stolen in Bordeaux and about ten electric two-wheelers, hidden behind plastic bags and packages, as well as computers, phones stolen in Aquitaine, and 15,000 euros in cash. The four suspects were taken into custody. According to the initial elements of the investigation, this cargo was supposed to transit through Spain to reach Morocco. Investigations are ongoing to elucidate this case.
