Bordeaux Drug Ring Busted: Ringleader Sentenced to 10 Years While Fleeing in Morocco

The 1st chamber of the Bordeaux Criminal Court ruled, on Friday, May 23, on the fate of those involved in the drug trafficking ring dismantled at the end of 2023 in the Saige neighborhood of Pessac. One of the ringleaders is currently in Morocco.
After a week-long hearing, sentences were handed down, ranging from ten months suspended to ten years in prison.
Two of the main actors, Steve Ngombe and Mohcine Ait Hssaine Gharbouz, identified as suppliers and ringleaders, were each sentenced to seven years in prison. They will also have to pay a fine of 50,000 euros, reports Sud-Ouest. The harshest penalty targets Anass Ait Hssaine Gharbouz, considered another key supplier. Tried in absentia, as he is believed to be in Morocco, he receives ten years in prison, the revocation of a nine-month suspended sentence, and a 50,000 euro fine. An arrest warrant has been issued for him.
A woman in her fifties, who made her apartment available for storing drugs and money, was sentenced to ten months in prison with a simple suspended sentence.
This judgment concludes the legal action initiated after the operation conducted in 2023 by the Territorial Crime Division. The investigation had revealed that this cannabis trafficking network supplied the entire Gironde region and had allowed the police to seize significant quantities of drugs as well as large sums of cash.
