PJD Leader Calls for Silence on Israel’s Recognition of Moroccan Sahara

The Secretary General of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane, has asked the members and officials of the party to impose a blackout on Israel’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
Abdelilah Benkirane has asked the members and officials of the party to refrain from any declaration or comment on the letter from the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he recognizes the Moroccanness of the Sahara, according to the official website of the party of the lamp.
Several political parties, including the RNI, the PAM and the Istiqlal, as well as other Moroccan political actors, have already spoken on the subject, after the Royal Cabinet announced on Monday the receipt by King Mohammed VI of a letter from the Israeli Prime Minister in which he informs the sovereign of Israel’s decision "to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the territory of Western Sahara".
This decision, the letter specifies, will be "reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli government", and will be "transmitted to the United Nations, regional and international organizations of which Israel is a member, as well as to all countries with which Israel maintains diplomatic relations". Israel is also studying "the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla", the note states.
