Moroccan Opposition Leader Calls for Expulsion of Israeli Diplomat Amid Rising Tensions

In a context of escalating Israeli-Palestinian tensions, the Secretary General of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane, is demanding the expulsion of the head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco. A reaction seen as an interference in the diplomatic affairs of the kingdom.
In a statement, Benkirane demands the expulsion of the head of the Israeli liaison office, thus interfering in diplomatic affairs and attempting to call into question the constant support of the Moroccan authorities for the Palestinian cause. Yet the former head of government is well aware that these issues fall within the exclusive prerogative of the king, recalls H24 Info.
The PJD Secretary General is not new to this. Last March, he had criticized the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel and pushed the envelope further by establishing a link between the resurgence of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and this resumption of relations.
Faced with these controversial reactions, the Royal Cabinet had to reframe the Islamist party, evoking in a statement "irresponsible excesses and dangerous approximations" and recalling that "the foreign policy of the kingdom is a prerogative of His Majesty the King, may God assist him, by virtue of the Constitution".
